SoPE, an alliance partner of The Innovaton Institute, is a biomedical and health care innovation network of over 26,000 international members. With the addition of the Orange County/San Diego Chapter, SoPE now has 23 chapters worldwide.
Hausfeld shared lessons learned in translational medicine and entrepreneurship, including why not to move forward on an idea that “isn’t better, faster, safer and cheaper.” He also impressed upon the group of 40 that “people bring skills, ideas and experience to a company, and to recognize that all three have great value.”
Anthony Chang, MD, chief intelligence and innovation officer for the Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, who will lead the Orange County/San Diego Chapter, also spoke and welcomed potential members. Larry Stofko, executive vice president of The Innovation Institute and Innovation Lab shared with guests about The Innovatin Institute and how the SoPE network of physicians will be able to tap into The Innovation Institute through software set up to facilitate the submission and commercialization of ideas.
About SoPE
The Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SoPE) is a global biomedical and healthcare innovation network with membership open to all healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders. Five years later, SoPE continues to gain momentum with 23 chapters across the United States, Turkey, China and the United Arab Emirates, as well as industry partners who directly support our members’ efforts. Members include doctors, nurses, dentists, healthcare entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, academics, students, IT professionals and industry representatives.
Their community members share a common focus – working at the crossroads of innovation and commercialization to make a difference in healthcare.
