The Innovation Institute Hosts Global Healthcare Innovations Alliance
The Innovation Institute hosted the Global Healthcare Innovations Alliance last week at its Innovation Lab in Newport Beach, Calif. The Alliance is a collaborative network of healthcare systems, academic institutions and corporate partners from around the world.
The Alliance includes The Innovation Institute, based in Orange County, Calif., a health care product incubator for five major health systems; Cleveland Clinic, based in Cleveland, Ohio with operations in Florida, Nevada, Canada and Abu Dhabi; MedStar Health, the largest healthcare provider in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. region; University of Notre Dame in Indiana; ProMedica, serving northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan; Marshfield Clinic system, with locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin; Parker Hannifin, based in Cleveland, Ohio with operations worldwide; NASA Glenn Research Center, based in Cleveland, Ohio with facilities across the U.S.; Cox Communications, a conglomerate based in Atlanta, Georgia; and Lubrizol, based in Wickliffe, Ohio.
The Alliance serves as a multilateral network that allows members to share in innovation development and commercialization. The Alliance gathers once per year to learn from each other about how to succeed in delivering the most effective medical technologies and solutions to patients.
“Bringing this group together allows us to collectively understand and appreciate the unique assets and contributions that each of the partners has within their organization,“ said Brian Kolonick, general manager, Global Healthcare Innovations Alliance, Cleveland Clinic Innovations. “The hope is that these identified parallels will become foundations for future collaboration,” he added.
“This alliance provides tremendous opportunities for us to share intelligence so that we give our best to the innovation process,” said Larry Stofko, executive vice president of The Innovation Institute. “We were able to define each of our own competencies and identify projects and priorities that we could come together to accelerate the most viable and meaningful ideas tactically and strategically to create more value for all,” concluded Stofko.
The underlying theme for this gathering comes from an African Proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
